In keeping up with the meme trends, here’s my expectation of summer.

And here’s my summer.

Just not as stylish.
Here’s to another round of summer school!

…was a day I never thought would exist. In fact, I didn’t even know this morning that I would meet the legendary designer.
Long story short, there was a lot of running. Through hallways, puddles, subways and elevators- my friend and I made it to be the last ones in line to meet the man himself.
I wish I had photos of the event to show you, but my little Canon was nesting comfortably in her bag the entire day. HOW I REGRET NOT KNOWING ABOUT THIS SOONER so I could’ve a) actually bothered with dressing up (instead of a schoolgirl jeans-and-high-tops ensemble when everyone else wore a little black dress and glossy pumps) b) brought my camera (so my friend and I wouldn’t have to reply on a cellphone camera) and c) wouldn’t have disappeared out of nowhere to storm downtown.
Anyhoo, here are the goodies I brought home:

Yes, that is an autograph by Oscar de la Renta.
I remember when Mr. de la Renta slowly signed his name on the card. It was odd because he signed it vertically, from the “O” up- the first time I saw anybody signing their name in such a way. Darn, now I wish I said something more when I was in the designer’s presence. All I said was “Hi” when I arrived at his glass table and “Thank you, sir” when I left, and he said nothing- just looked at me with measuring eyes.
I also received a vial of his new “Live in Love” fragrance (which immediately smelled of a freshly squeezed orange, then of flowers and smoky spices, and ending in an elegant, feminine warmth) which he was launching today. “Live in Love” captures sunny spring days and romantic summer nights perfectly.

P.S. And I saw Jeanne Beker, the host of Fashion Television.
Sometimes, you just have to be spontaneous.
I’ve been wanting to share pictures from this editorial for so long! And now, the time is finally right. Who’s excited for school? I would be if Karlie Kloss was my new classmate.

Enjoy your last day of summer 2011!
August has always carried sentimental baggage with it. The equivalent of August turning to September is the New Year’s ball dropping at midnight in Times Square. The new school year is even more of a new beginning than January. There is not much change in the dead of winter except that the mercury drops lower and the homework gets harder in January… And the fact that you waste a lot of eraser and correction fluid rewriting the year in dates (2010 2011). September on the other hand is when Vogue pumps out it’s extra-rise-pizza thick issues and when the new school year starts. Which basically entails a period of time starting in less than a week when there is a lot to fashionably blog about and not enough time to do so.
These photos will probably be the last time I wear a dress outdoors without a sweater on top! I’m reading southern bloggers complain about the still ongoing summer heat and how they wish they could enjoy the north’s early falls. Can we swap places for an hour?! No seriously, that’s all I need. To feel the sun burn my back again.

Goodbye, summer!
First of all, I got a new Chanel watch!
Unfortunately, it was made out of glossy paper.
But all was well because I got a pair of Carrera sunglasses!
My new pair of oversized shades didn’t last too long either…
What’s all this nonsense? I made my first moodboard! Like a collage, but more emotive of the artist’s current state of mind/ style. I made it for Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes’ Style Yourself Moodboard Contest.
Here it was in the process of completion:
And here it is complete! I used photos from H&M Magazine, Canadian Art magazine and lookbooks from Holt Renfrew/Mango/Shops at Bayview Village/ Anthropologie.
I’ve been feeling the breezy, flowy side of things lately, hence the brown maxi dress on the bottom right corner, the translucent yellow top on the upper right corner and the dusty pink skirt from Mango. I’m loving the colours grey, rose and tan! Prints wise-romantic florals. Pops of green and orange are cute too and so are thick, structured circle scarves (anything that drapes and I can wrap around, really!) I used clips of all the seasons, because the weather lately has been pretty unpredictable. I slept outside in a tent in 17°C weather so wool is practical during the middle of August!
Wish me luck! The contest winners are announced on Thursday!
