Any guesses as to what this is? A back of an old iPod case? An eyeglasses box? Maybe even a supremely wrinkle-less rolled cloth napkin?
What if they were clutches? Getting warmer! Clutches by Philip Treacy? Bingo!
The coveted London milliner has had his creations worn by celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Lady Gaga (who applied for an internship with him this past summer. Gaga just can’t get enough!) Treacy has also been the receiver of not one but five British Accessory Designer of the Year awards in the early ’90′s.
Still don’t believe they’re clutches? What if you looked at them from the side?
Ugh, what an interior! Creamy, dreamy swirls on a peachy lining…And look at that adorable mini- zippered pocket! (Which can only hold a few pennies or a lipstick at the most and exists as eye candy only.)
And they come in many designs-
Marilyn Monroe and Campbell’s soup? Indeed.
I prefer the Campbell’s soup clutch. The beige hue is just the right touch of retro without bordering on wallpaper. And if one were to peer intently at the cans, one can discover to their delight a wide array of delicious soups! Split pea and onion, clam chowder and Scotch broth, vegetable and chicken noodle! But there is another reason why my heart goes to the last bag, IT’S NOT MADE OF (VARNISHED) LEATHER!
The polished shape of these clutches have worked their way into Treacy’s Autumn/ Winter 2011 Ready-to-wear collection. They emerged swathed in turquoise silk, studded in square crystals and beaded in tiny, shimmering gems. Take a peek at http://www.philiptreacy.co.uk/. P.S. Treacy also made a guest appearance on this season of Project Runway! Which reminds me, I’ve a lot of catching up to watch…

Hello. Great job. I did not expect this on a Wednesday. This is a great story. Thanks!
The whole campbell soup/ marilyn monroe is probably inspired by Andy Warhol, also sophie’s favourite artist…
and also, the clutches kind of look like gum?
Sarah Jessice Parker is very pretty but she does not have a flawless skin complexion “
